[Cl...]
I have a 0.0001 perpendicularity callout from a datum (step cylinder .258 to .511 dia approx 1.5" long) to a .1015 dia cylinder approx 3/4" long. If I insert the step cylinder as the "primary datum" & the smaller cylinder in "feature" as the print calls out, I get no result at all. If I reverse the features, I get a result. Whats going on here?
[Ia...]
I've never had any luck with step cylinders. I've always had something slightly off. Have you tried using a 3d line instead?
[Cl...]
I'll give that a try, thanks.
[Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. A 3d Line and a Step Cylinder are two different axis lines. A Step Cylinder takes all of your points to create an axis line. A 3d Line takes the center point of each individual feature, and draws an axis line. To test, take 3 circle paths on a cylinder, and recall feature points into a Cylinder, and then use recall to create a 3d Line. Look at the actual values for the axis, they will be different. [Cl...]
Thanks for the input Richard. I figured it out. There is a B/P note I missed, it states; "Applicable For Width -W-" which is located above the center of the evaluated feature (a cylinder) I changed the evaluated feature to a constructed 3d line (now the 3d lines Z=0 is on the same Z=0 as width -W- and boom, I got a believable number.
