[Ad...]
I have a part that has been updated and slightly modified. I want to update the cad model on the CMM without having to write the program. How do I do so? I know I have to delete the old one and load the new one and use cad model comparison but don't know the exact steps .
[Ma...]
Here is some information I got from this forum.Update CAD Model in Program.docx
[Mi...]
I used to do that but now I do it a little differently. Instead of creating another plan and saving the model then deleting the old and importing the new and yadayadayada... I do it a bit easier. I open the original file. Then I load the new step file(we use stp files) from cad file as usual (right along with the old model). Then I go to cad/modify CAD entities/hierarchy and highlight the new model then go over to Transformation and move the new model around as usual. Then delete the old model from Hierarchy. Then I do the CAD Model Comparison to match it up like before. Then I would go in and edit the changes. It's a lot easier.
[Ad...]
When using comparison. I want all of the features to fall in tolerance correct ? What does it mean when they are out of tolerance?
[No...]
Features out of tolerance are usually the features that have changed in the new model. The tolerance in comparison means how close a feature should match the CAD geometry. But some results can be false positives. If for example the model has a plane that is sectioned into several patches, you can only click one of them to create the plane feature. If you later edit the size fields to reflect the dimensions of the whole plane, this feature will be reported as out of tolerance in a comparison. [Ad...]
Got it I understand now. So it works as a red flag just in case there is something that can possibly cause a collision?
[Mi...]
I often end up with holes out of tolerance because I might edit the diameters so the program matches the parts. Sometimes the model diameters aren't actual.
