Back-up Calypso settings

My company is in the process of updating all computers to the latest version of Windows 10. What is the best way to back-up all of my settings in Calypso? Where are the back-up files located? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Be aware however that the backup function may omit custom files. For example we use an additional QDAS config to generate secondary data files for another system. Such files may have to be backed up manually. If you're unsure which files have been included in the backup, rename the file backup.set to backup.zip and compare with your config folder.

Laura's method is the best in my situation, its super easy and the best way to Sync/Clone an offline seat to be exactly like the main computer.
Files, settings, headers, all saved.
That process used to mean manually swapping folders, which i have personally screwed up in the past.

I'm using Calypso 5.4, which is apparently before this feature was added. I'm trying to find which folders should be copied in order to make a backup. Searching the forum hasn't worked as it seems Calypso's file structure has changed since 5.4 as well. Does anyone remember which folders (and their locations) should be saved?

I would back up these directories: [list=1]
  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\Config (Very Important)
  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\workarea\inspections(if you store your programs here)
  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\workarea\basesystems(All your base alignments)
  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\workarea\results(if you save your results here)
  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\protocol\protform(any report header info)
  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\data\excel_report(custom excel templates)
  • You also might need to get the license file if you are switching to a new computer.
    c:program data\zeiss\license directory

I don't have a C:\Users\Public\Documents folder. I do have a C:\Users\Public\Public Documents folder but it is empty. Using Windows 7 if that is pertinent.

I was able to locate "C:\Program Files(x86)\Zeiss\Calypso\opt\om\config" Is this correct? I'm already familiar with the workarea, basesystems, and protform folders so they won't be a problem.

Thanks much for your help Brett.

5.4 used a different directory structure.

Look at the directory structure pdf in the info folder inside the main download of 2019 for more info. (and I think its been in every main install download since 5.6)

Essentially 5.4 config folder is located at:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Zeiss\CALYPSO\home\om\config" or possibly "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO 5.4\Config" If you have multiple versions installed side by side. When installed side by side with an existing calypso version calypso adds the version number after the word CALYPSO.

For the file locations for 5.4 you have..
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zeiss\CALYPSO 5.4\home\om\workarea\basesystems"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zeiss\CALYPSO 5.4\home\om\workarea\inspections"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zeiss\CALYPSO 5.4\home\om\workarea\results"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zeiss\CALYPSO 5.4\opt\om\protform"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zeiss\CALYPSO 5.4\home\om\excel_report"

Versions from 5.6 onward are located in Public Documents to conform with newer windows file location rules like follows:
(ie. following directory info Brett gave previously)
"C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO\config" or "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO X.X\config" where X.X is version number, if you have multiple versions installed side by side
