[Cl...]
I'm trying to pass a type-1 Gage R&R on my 543 O-inspect. The features that are giving me the most trouble are the 2d lines measured with the camera. They are measuring 45 deg angles, very short (.015 - .020) lines. Does anyone have any tips on improving these measurements?
[La...]
What magnification level are you using, and what is the tolerance of the dimension that you are doing the GR&R on?
[Cl...]
2.14 mag and anywhere from ± .001 - ±.003, and ± 2 deg.
[La...]
Keep in mind the resolution of your magnification level. There is a chart on pg 13 of your optical training manual. The 2.14 mag has a resolution of 3 microns so you may find that your results improve when you are at 3.2 (2 microns) or 6.3 (1 micron). That being said, it could come down to strategy itself. What is the value of the optical filter and outlier elimination you are using? How many iterations? Having no idea what the part is or what your light setting looks like, etc, it's hard to say, but these are things that I look at when trying to dial in a program. [Cl...]
Back-light is at 35% (all others zero)
[No...]
Can you make a screenshot with the actual points found and the ones discarded by the optical filter? On backlit parts you should generally reverse the search direction to 'black towards white'.
[Cl...]
BTW, the part is cylindrical. I reversed all camera features to dark - light'
[Ri...]
Is the camera in focus during this measurement? That screenshot looks blurry.
[Cl...]
I am focusing on that very spot prior to the measurement, but not getting a clean edge?
[Cl...]
Found the problem. That autofocus point had a nominal of 0.100. I must haves fat fingered it. Looks much better now.

[No...]
Please sign in to view this quote. By the way, Calypso (re-)features a nasty bug with assigned autofocus: It doesn't work with all feature types. They fixed it some time ago and I was dumb enough to change my programs back to assigned autofocus. In 2018 the bug was back. Now I decided to throw out all AF assignments once and forever and only work with Z formulas.
