Fleming left hand rule

My newly joined colleague says that CMM working principle is Fleming left hand rule.The axis moving according to the Fleming left hand rule ,but we can say that its working principle is Fleming left hand rule???

Yes of course,it is useful to find the direction of force in a magnetic field of a current carrying conductor.But in cmm movement of the axis coinside the Fleming left hand rule.I don't know we can say that CMM working according to Fleming's left hand rule that is my doubt??

I am sorry to say that machine moving according to left hand rule, you are tilting the right hand rule 90 degree. This is not the actual representation of right hand rule

The above illustration is the representation of the Right-Hand Rule as it relates to the Cartesian Coordinate system applied to the CMMs own machine coordinate system. When you load in an empty program the tridedron on the screen matches this exactly. Additionally, counter-clockwise movement represents positive rotation about those axis.

Right-handed coordinates are counter-clockwise, which is what CMM's are. Y is counterclockwise from X as rotated about Z.

You both have the correct rotation. The difference is if you use the thumb or the middle finger as Z.

I was taught that the thumb goes straight up, and the index and middle are at 90 degrees. The index points to the X axis.

Well that's fine, but it has nothing whatsoever to do with a CMM.
