Upgrade benefits

I am putting a proposal together to upgrade Calypso. We currently have version 5.6 and looking to upgrade to Calypso 2019. What are some of the benefits for the upgrade? Will the upgrade help improve programming time? We currently have free form surface as an add on. Does curve or PCM come with the new version or is it still and add-on? Thanks for any info.

Hi Robert,

Pretty much anything that was an option is still an option, like curve, freeform, and pcm. I think I started using Calypso at around version 6.0 and there has been several bug fixes and feature improvements along the way. Things like additional filter settings, scan path options, and a program timer.

There have been a lot of changes since 5.6.

Nothing earth shattering in my opinion but, maybe for applications I don't use.
They've changed the appearance on characteristic icons , added caliper distances, you can start programs from the joystick box, the stoplight will now ask you if you want to change it to green and i'm sure many that do make programming quicker but,don't come to mind at the moment.
A bit of backsliding too, like the default printout not remaining in the background.

I'm told free-form surface and curve come together in one add-on package now and if you get it, you'll probably wonder how you lived without curve.. I couldn't.

I have been with Calypso since V 5.4. Loads of changes. Newer version does help with the programming speed. Lots of new shortcut etc.. Lots of icon changes, added menus etc...

Just a side note that if you jump to 2019 you will need Windows. I had to upgrade so that I could use 6.9.

...and don´t forget all the bugs fixed!
Especially in curves and freeform, even if some problems are still remaining, you won´t regret an update to 2019.
