Imported CAD out of measurement area

I am a very new user of Zeiss Duramax CMM machine and Calypso software. When I imported a CAD and loaded it in Calypso software, I found that the file is far off the measuring table as seen in the virtual machine (from the Planner tab>stylus simulation). Consequently, when I mark a point on the part manually using the joysticks, on the Calypso software I see a point made on mid air (off the CAD file). My question is how to make sure that the CAD model in the virtual machine on the Calypso software and the physical model on the actual CMM platform are occupying the same location and are in sync? When you load a CAD model in a new measurement plan, the model should appear somewhere near the origin of the virtual CMM (usually in the back upper left corner), because in a new plan the base alignment and the CMM origin are at the same location and the CAD origin is placed at the base alignment origin. If that is not the case you either have already modified the base alignment or your model has an unusual origin that is way off the model.

To make points probed on the real CMM appear at the right spot on the model, you must first define and then measure the base alignment on the real CMM. Before that Calypso can't know where you placed your real part (obviously).

Thanks very much for your guidance. I was able to make measurements on the real part by probing manually. I still could not figure out how to position my CAD model at the right location on the virtual machine. Could you please give me some guidance on or direct me to a resource that extensively talks about positioning the CAD model on the CMM table so that I can automate the process of measurement.

In the simulation window there's a button in the lower left of the toolbar that allows you to position your model on the virtual CMM table. After opening that dialog you first click on the part you want to move in the CAD window (should turn purple). Then you can either enter X/Y/Z offsets in the upper fields or define the position with the mouse with the functions in the lower half.
No matter which method you use, you need to click the "Apply" button to make the changes permanent. Also make sure you have "Drag Base Alignment" checked at the bottom of the window, otherwise the origin.wouldn't move with the model.
