[Ja...]
I’ve been looking through the release info manual for 6.8. On page 2-27 I ran across the section entitled “Point sets: Automatic search volume”. In the reading, it says; “In the Plane, Sphere, Cylinder and Freeform Surface features, Automatic search volume can now be activated in the measurement strategy. The feature must be based on a surface in the CAD model. Starting from the surfaces, all surrounding measurement points will be acquired. Parameters such as search radius, angle to nominal normal and edge distance can be specified by the user and used as extraction constraint.” I haven’t been able to locate anything at all that relates to this. I must be looking in the wrong place(s). Can somebody steer me straight?
[No...]
I think this type of strategy is only available when you evaluate STL or CT point clouds. It allows you to define the points to include by defining a search volume. To evaluate STL clouds you need to set up a virtual CMM for STL evaluation first. As far as I remember, this is only possible on live CMMs with the CNC license. In other words, it doesn't work on offline seats. I'm not at the CMM right now, but if you'd like to know how to set that up, I can check back.
[Ja...]
I was thinking along the lines that I needed some kind of software upgrade. What you mentioned makes sense and explains why I'm not seeing it. No need to take this any further. Thanks for the info.
[Ri...]
I believe that you need the Calypso Manual license to perform STL import. With a Calypso CNC license, you can import point clouds, but it's much different in the sense as how you do it with STL import for things like the Comet/ T-Scan/ and CT machines. [No...]
Please sign in to view this quote. That's entirely possible. I only remember that it didn't work with the offline seat (STL machine not available in the setup menu)
