No connection with CMM

We have an awful Network and our PC's auto-update during the weekend, so I have to restart the computer every Monday. Every time that happens it takes a very long time to reconnect to the Network so I googled some solutions and I believe I may have done something through the command prompt to disrupt the connection to the machine...this is what I did:

netsh winsock reset
netsh in tcp reset
netsh int ip reset

ip config /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew

After doing those commands, I am getting an error (shown in picture) and a No connection in the status window.

Shawn, I guess you should be doing ipconfig release and renew for "non zeiss adapter/s only"
Something like:
ipconfig /release "Ethernet 2"
ipconfig /renew "Ethernet 2"
Looks like CMM controler isn't running DHCP server, that's why you won't get nothing with /renew on ethernet card connected to it. So static ip somewhere in 192.4.1.0/24 is needed.

This was an easy fix. The service tech just had me put in the IP address of the controller/machine and that was it. Problem solved!
[/quote] I was wondering if you could share the process of how this was done. Thank you in advance.

I was having extremely slow connection to our network so I googled some tips about using ipconfig to reset the connection. The mistake in doing that is that it removes the Zeiss ip address unless you do a specific command to omit that connection. It turned out that the programmer before me made a huge mistake and was using CAT5 ethernet cables instead of CAT6.

Once I had a Zeiss tech on the phone, he remoted in to my PC and immediately noticed the IP address was missing in the connection so he had me open the Network and Sharing Center, open the "Zeiss-CMM" connection and type in the IP address there.

Anybody care to chime in with a little bit of help on how to set the IP address? I'm having a similar issue and have set what I thought should be the correct IP address but I'm still unable to ping the CMM computer.

Alright - figured it out.

Under your Ethernet connection, I put in my CMM IP, and then had to clear my "Windows Socket" or something by running a command prompt as an admin (even though I was logged in as an admin, you have to run the prompt as an admin again) and typing in "netsh winsock reset" and pressing enter.

Reboot everything and have been good to go since.
