But i think they just brew them in a way that if they did go bad, the waxed moustache & manicured beard drinkers couldn't tell the difference, because they taste like rotten hops fresh from the brewery. [Mi...] Posted June 13, 2019 Share Posted June 13, 2019 yeah. Cycling from cooling and warming can make a beer go off. The IPA's or India Pale Ale is a bitter beer that was produced with extra hops. They did this because the Englishman in India needed their beer but the trip by ship and train usually took too long and the beer would be off and flat by the time it got there. Personally I can't take the stuff, terrible rot gut. I like a good Lager, Irish if I can find it. BUT... I'm sorry I can't answer this question cuz once I take it out the fridge it doesn't last long enough to go off so I don't have any further information on that subject 😉 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
[Ca...] Posted June 13, 2019 Share Posted June 13, 2019 I thought beer skunking from temp was a myth, I'd thought it was light that broke down the hops, and that's how it skunks. Call me crazy, but I prefer beer to be room temp, you can taste the flavors better. Unless it's skud-weiser, or chick-a-lobe. If you are an IPA diehard, Bell's has made "2 hearted ale" for over 25 years now, that's what IPA used to be before every noob with a kettle started the "how many hops can i fit in here" competition. [Me...] Posted July 3, 2019 Share Posted July 3, 2019 I am from Wisconsin so beer is everywhere, immigrants from Germany brought a heritage of beer making here. Milwaukee has a reputation as "The beer capital of the world", it has companies such as Schlitz, Pabst, and Miller. I am not sure what percentage of beer is consumed in Wisconsin compared to other states but I can guarantee I drink my fair share. I like to try the small hometown breweries once in a while, we have many. "How long can beer be out of the fridge once it has been in before it becomes skunk?" I never heard of the term "Skunk Bear" maybe that's because in Wisconsin all beer is skunk. Some of the first beers I drank were Point and Kingsbury, both were better cold than warm.
