Simulation Question : Importing Masterprobe?

Hi,
Just got up and running for my offline seat.

First, Calypso created its own Masterprobe.

To test out how simulation mode program to live program works I created a Stylus in SSC that I have for the live CMM.
I went into Offline Seat - Planner - Import SCC Probe.

Says I have to Import a SCC Masterprobe... Do I need to make a Masterprobe based off my Physical Master? If so.. I do not have the Correct Specs of this MP for my CMM.

After I create it... I import it? Then All SCC Probes I create will be ok to import???

2nd... How do I get my CMM to show up in Simulation maode.. Assuming that it is possible (I've seen it somewhere before)

Lastly, After I create a program Offline... I go to my Online seat.. Open it.. My first step should be to Manually run the Base alignment in the Base Align Tab, correct?

There is a model of the CMM and you just need to click it on.

Thanks. I'm assuming the MT/Vast would be for my XT/Vast Gold? Only difference from physical to the CAD shown is the top connector. It is not a cone.. It is more of a cylinder. How will I be sure it is the right overall Length than my Live Masterprobe. Or does that not matter.

Ya, Idk but my Sim is different? maybe because newer version but I can nit get the CAD CMM to show... And my probe is smack dab in the middle.. Is there a Calibration for Simulation?

Also, Why does my Sim View put it in the Zero of the machine..
I did this quick program, Saved and then oaded into my Live CMM. I then Manually did the Base Alignment.

Saved and then loaded back into Offline seat hoping it would align to the Live Seat Alignment...

How do I get the CAD model to Align to the CMM Base like it would be Physically?

OMG, so many questions..... 🙄

Yes, you need to import a SSC masterprobe, but as far as I know you can't just build your own but have to choose one from the SSC masterprobe tree. But I haven't tested this.

Does it matter which one you choose? Yes and no. Of course you should choose the one that corresponds with the CMM you simulate. If your specific machine isn't there, choose one that resembles your probe head most closely (VAST/MT).
It DOES (or may) matter if you intend to export SSC probes in the form of a PCF file from the offline to the online CMM. With a VAST head you can normally calibrate such imported probes right from the start with the Re-qualification button (caliper icon in the toolbar), but if your MP length differs between offline and online, you first need to correct the Z coordinates of your imported probe in the stylus management by the difference between offline and online MP. If you don't use that function and always calibrate manually, it doesn't matter.

The simulation will only show your CMM in the CAD window if
a) there's a model of it available at all
b) the model is available in the right dimensions

To see a list of available CMM models, go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Zeiss\Calypso X.X\cad-components
To have your CMM displayed, this folder must contain the basic CMM model AND it must have the right X/Y/Z dimensions.
Do not think of copying one of those models and renaming it. That won't work as expected. If your model is there and it's still not displayed, check if you've set the right dimensions in Calypso's CMM settings.

You don't need to do any calibration in simulation. You can execute the function, but it won't have any effect.

When you create a new program on the offline seat, the base alignment is always located at the virtual CMM origin. To change that, use the icon in the lower right of the sim window toolbar. It allows you to relocate your CAD model on the virtual CMM. Make sure to have "Drag Base Alignment" checked when you move the CAD model.
By the way: Measuring the base alignment on your online CMM has absolutely no effect on your offline seat, as measured base alignments are a local setting and are therefore unique for every machine or seat. Only the definition inside the measurement plan is global and moves with the program.

Thank you for all of that. I am going to Print it out and frame it.

So lastly, Creating Offline Program -> Load Program into Online CMM-> Do Manual Base Alignment run (Bottom Right button in the BA Creation Screen) is the best way to validate position and program? Then I can just simply run thru each feature and viola!

From what I've read through on the posts you are thinking about this a little wrong. The off-line seat is for writing a program off-line.

Okay, you shouldn't go between the off-line and the on-line seat to align the part in the off-line mode. You can completely simulate the part run in Planner. Now move the part to the table in simulation is something else for later.

First create a MasterProbe in the off-line seat. Don't worry about how it matches your on-line seat. Create it's own MasterProbe in the Stylus System Creator. Now click on Planner/ Import SCC and select that MasterProbe. Accept the MasterProbe. YOU ONLY DO THIS ONCE, EVER.

Now Calypso can care less about your stylus' being perfectly match to your on-line stylus'. For example, you create a stylus in the Stylus System Creator and import that stylus system into Simulator. You created it at a perfect 25 degree rotation but on the active CMM your stylus is more like 24.5 degrees. Calypso will take the X,Y,Z, vector direction, etc from your off-line program and drive the on-line stylus along those values. When you write the program to a model off-line the nominals are perfect to the model. You can even write it with a short probe and run it with a longer probe Calypso doesn't care it take the active calibration of the on-line stylus and make the adjustment.

1) Write and create a program (base alignment and the entire program) off-line
2) Move the program over to the on-line seat
3) Place part on CMM as per the orientation of the off-line model
4) Open the Base Alignment in the program (now on the on-line seat)
5) Select Execute Base Alignment Now
6) Run the Base Alignment

Your off-line program and your on-line part and program are now "synced"

Proceed as normal

This is what I did. And you clarified it is correct.
As for the Loading back into offline, you clarified it is not correct lol.
