[Me...]
Good Morning, How does one go about adding the In-Line Datum Features -G- & -H- in a True Position Characteristic as shown below in the picture? Not particularly concerned with the MMB Condition... Stepped Cylinder maybe?
[Br...]
Either a stepped cylinder or a 3D line.
[Ch...]
I was going to recommend a 3d line. I use this strategy on a lot of long skinny parts.
[An...]
Forget about GMHM. CALYPSO isn't able to calculate such a complex 3D-geometry!
[Ja...]
If I am not mistaken Andreas, The picture is hard for me to see. But if it is how I see it, then the feature, G, and H are all coaxial. This is the only time that Calypso CAN calculate the geometry for MMB. I'd be interested to hear if the MMC windows are greyed out for Shawn. [Me...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I have not been able to inspect a physical part, but I was able to turn on MMB using the Stepped Cylinder. I had to go into that feature and select the diameter characteristics for it to work though, I believe that is the correct method anyway. [Ja...]
Shawn, I am assuming that this Stepped Cylinder function is essentially a True Position macro for your specific instance. It looks like it'll handle what you need it to. Have you tried to create an actual True Position characteristic and selecting your datums in the order of precedence stated on the print? [Me...]
Jacob, Yes. I created a T.P. Characteristic but used the Stepped Cylinder as my Primary Datum with MMB condition.
