[Ke...]
I am measuring a plane with a T probe it is to long of a plane to get with either probe. Is there a way in the strategy to use one probe for one side and the other for the opposite?
[Ja...]
In the feature strategy, you can copy/paste the clearance data and then change the stylus system and clearance group in the new clearance data. For example, you could set your clearance data to -X and use stylus 3 to measure a polyline on the half of the plane that that probe can reach, copy and paste the clearance data, in the new clearance data change the clearance group to +X and stylus 5, add another polyline to the plane that that probe can reach. [Ma...]
Jason is right on track. Just remember when you exit the feature you will get a very large warning dialog box. Calypso will recognize you are using several stylus and will prompt you in this warning. Yes = Calypso will handle the CP and stylus management and change the strategy as it feels necessary No = You have already have set the strategy as you want it Mark
[mi...]
I use it every day doing the same type of measurement, as long as you are using the same Stylus system by taking the first half of the measurement with one probe then, tell it to change to the other probe and continue on with the points it can reach. I have never had to add additional clearance data. But I programmed from the part not CAD model.
[Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. This is incorrect. If you are measuring from the +X side of a side, and now need to switch to the -X side of a part, you will need to either A) add additional clearance plane yourself, or B) let Calypso add the additional clearance plane for you. When you go to close out of the software, it will prompt you like Mark stated. If you do not add an additional clearance plane, the stylus system will try to cut through the part to get there. Edit: This topic is gone over in Basic Calypso Training, and is fundamental to making measurement plans correctly.
[mi...]
Richard thanks for the info. You must have had a better instructors than I had because this was never covered in any of the classes I received from Zeiss, guess I have just been lucky to not have any problems with this situation but have been doing this type of measurement for 15 years, but we are a production shop and run the same type of parts with just a few variations. Mine are in the +Y then -Y and have no additional clearance data. Thanks again Richard
