Complicated Diameter

How would any of you go about measuring the diameter I have highlighted in the picture below?

I'm scanning lines in a Cylinder in 3 sections.

Could you measure each segment with an individual curve. Then recall all of the curves into a circle with Outer Tangential evaluation settings? Then report the diameter of the circle.

I'm not sure about using Outer Tangential. I'm fairly certain the company we make this for will be using a Zeiss as well to inspect & based on our regularly contracted parts I believe they want/use Least Squares.

I've also tried doing small circle segments and basically saw the same exact readings as my line scans.

Linear lines or circle paths should be OK. If you opt for circle paths, make sure you turn on "Connect Segments" inside of the filter tab.

I'm honestly not for sure how much it affects a diameter measurement, but I know I've seen it heavily affect a roundness measurement (especially as the out of shape condition goes up).
