.3mm Probe on Eclipse Machine

I can not get a good Radius and S value reading after calibrating.

Is there any way I can bypass the scanning and change to probing when calibrating the probe? Thought there was an option you can change the mode to “six points” or something.

I have XXT head with 15mm Ref. Sphere.

And on our Prismo it probes when it calibrates.

What parameters are you using on the Prismo? Sphere coverage? Force? Probing Dynamic?

Following is an idea I heard before. It may be enough to get you going.

After the Passive Qualification, repeat the qualification but select the Geometry Re-Qualification Mode and reduce the 180 degree Sphere Coverage to a smaller value. Keep repeating the Geometry Re-Qualification process until you find a reasonable number. You want the sphere coverage to be the largest number possible to maximize accuracy. The Passive Qualification is always done at 180° regardless of the number you enter.

The only flaw in this methodology is the "bending map" established during the Passive Qualification was likely based on the shank or more solid portion of the probe. So, depending on the tolerance of your feature, this method may or may not be good enough.

Most of the time a smaller reference sphere is the solution, but a 15mm rad ref sphere seems like it would be adequate.
