Invalid Geometry

It would be helpful to know what kind of geometry you're trying to extract. Depending on whether you display the CAD in wireframe or in solid mode Calypso can be very picky about which type of geometry you can select.

As Norbert mentions..... and I have been barked at more than once.... about clicking while attempting to create curves. Giving it a second try and carefully clicking the needed 'wires' has made the 'Invalid geometry' watchdog go away.

And it still doesn't work?
Then I can only imagine two reasons:
- you selected a feature type in the toolbar that isn't compatible with the surface clicked
(example: you can't extract a circle from a flat plane)
- something's (still) wrong with your CAD model.

Do you have free from surface?

If not you can use space points all over the surface and use
the Space Point Distance for each point, applying +/-.05 tol.

Sometimes you have to sneak around the part to find a spot to pick. I've had this on cylinders and planes.
I've had to pick on the inside of cylinders then tell it it's an outsider. same with planes.

Normally if you get that error message it means it is a free form surface and not a 3D feature Calypso can extract like a Plane, Cone, Cylinder, Sphere

Typically what I do for these sort of features is create an unknown contour, then as stated in a previous reply create a bunch of space points and obtain a profile that way.

There are work arounds if you don't have the fancy FreeForm or Curve modules, it just takes longer to perform and process your results.
