[Ra...]
I need to measure the inside of a small gear and I can't remember to use the centering feature to make sure that the probe comes in and measures the inside of the gear. Can somebody remind me how to do this?
[Ow...]
Not sure I understand and might need a few more details. Are you talking about "self centering a point" between the teeth to set the planar axis? If so, you should be able to click on the point in the strategy and in the window that pops up, there should be a self-centering button/option at the bottom of the window. Are you using gear-pro that has the self centering option for aligning the teeth when starting the measurement?
[Ra...]
We are trying to simulate the old pin method with a given diameter over the gears. I was trying to use the probe centering feature with a point so that it would come in to the center of the gear, but the probe would come in and just sit there and not take a point. I'm using a probe the size that we would use for a pin and trying to simulate the best that I can to get the overall distance across what would have been two pins. Can you recommend another way to measure this without gearpro?2706 Gears 28May2019.JPG
[Me...]
If you can take 2 lines, one on each side of the tooth, you can construct a tangency and input the diameter pin you want. Then measure circle to circle and add the pin diameter to the result.Tangent.JPG
