Calypso run by a robot

We're exploring the possibility of automation. The best case scenario is that a user will load parts into some kind of storage location, then start "the process". A robot will load a part, or parts, onto the surface plate, and Calypso will check them and save the printouts as PDF's, then the robot will unload them, and load more to run. This continues until all the parts are checked.

We apparently have a robotics supplier, so the hardware is covered, but what else would be required?

You will need to be in touch with the automation group from Zeiss to help with the hardware and software side integration.

Were getting into automation quite a bit where im at, not in the quality department yet, but we've been getting these little modular robot arms that can be programmed to load & unload lust about any machine with the help of an automatic door system.
So my thought is that if you staged the keyboard & jog box in set locations (fixtured), these robots would be able to start & run the cmm just like any operator would, even pecking away for operator inputs, as long as you're dealing with repetitive inspection.
If you're talking about a robot running "whatever part happens to be dropped off by production" then you would be dealing with much more & advanced logic.
