[Me...]
Can anyone provide some literature or better an example text file used to create a free form / feature / point set / space point on a CAD model? This is a complex part and the customer wants use to verify exact point location they have a spread sheet of. I have attempted to use spacial points but there are so many it would take to long. I have been told that I could use a text file to generate a free form point set that would easily calculate these exact points and then I can export them with results to file. My road block is how to create the text file accordingly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!Capture1.PNG
[Me...]
Does the spread sheet of point locations have vector data along with the X/Y/Z locations? Even if you have a 3d cloud of points and import them, if there is no vector data you're going to have to get that from the CAD model anyway. [Me...]
To create the text file export the points from Excel as a comma delimited file. Then import into Calypso using the file option in your screen shot, then create feature at the bottom. See my screenshot for the format of the text file.Import_Points.JPG

[Ro...]
This sounds like you need to know parafiles, which was about 50% of the course i took several years ago when i got PCM training in Brighton Mi. I don't know if you can use them to regenerate Free Form surfaces (pointsets), but they can be used to move individual point locations.
