[Br...]
I have written several programs using an old holding fixture design. I designed a new holding fixture and I am ready to implement it. The new holding fixture requires me to change the orientation of the part by 90 degrees. See picture A for old orientation and picture B for the new orientation. I have tried several times to realign the part to the CMM without success. I have changed all the stylus to match the new part orientation, changed clear planes, updated both the base and start alignments, manually realigned both alignments as well. However, when I go to measure the part, it continues to try to measure the part as if it is in the old configuration. Before I call customer support or just write all new programs, I wanted to see if anyone has any ideas on things to try. It would seem to be me that this would be rather simple to do.Picture B.pngPicture A.png
[Ma...]
Go to the Base Alignment and in the Planar Rotation change the value from X to +Y (assuming the barrel is your Planar Rotation feature). Next execute a manual run on the alignment and it should work. Mark
[No...]
You don't have to change anything except the styli. Either rotate all probes by 90 degrees too or assign new styli according to the part rotation. Everything else can stay as it was, even the base alignment. Calypso is able to handle a rotated part as long as all styli fit the new orientation AND you probe the base alignment exactly the way you did before, just rotated by 90 degrees. What will happen is, the base alignment and the machine axes won't point in the same directions anymore, but the part will run. Everything will be rotated, even the clearance planes. It's probably the most ignored useful feature of Calypso.
