VAST XXT Error Result of Qualification is Insufficient

Has anyone ran into a stylus qualification issue with a RDS probe head and a VAST XXT TL3 sensor where it says “Result of Qualification is Insufficient”. I am trying to qualify a 2.00mm diameter stylus with an overall length of 40mm. The stylus is attached to a 30mm ThermoFit extension.

If so, what causes this message and how can solve this problem?

To be honest, the last time I saw that error, I had to replace my XXT sensor. Do you happen to have another XXT sensor that you could swap in order to test this?

Did anyone find a solution to this problem? I am getting the same error trying to calibrate 3mm x 50 probe RDS CAA, with VAST XXT TL3 sensor. "Result of Qualification is Insufficient".

My other probes calibrate fine, and I have tried new adapter plates, 3mm probes, spheres/positions etc with the same result. Eventually I changed the probing behavior from "standard" to "robust" and that seemed to work (for now), even though I'm not entirely sure what is being changed here. What is the difference and how (if at all) will changing this setting affect future measurements?

The probing behavior designates how much deflection the probe will use before it actually takes a point.
Standard = .15mm or .006"
Sensitive =.10mm or .004"
Robust = .20mm or .008"

Other ideas:
1) Clean sphere, ball, and adapter plate.
2) Get rid of any unnecessary fittings and make sure threads are not only tight but that the probe is firmly seating on the shoulder of the shaft, not bottoming out on the screw bottom or screw threads a few thou sooner--I've seen happen when you mix and match Zeiss, renishaw, Q mark, etc.
If the probe and extension are on the longish side (75+mm), you may be at the functional limit of CAA probing.

I'm still not sure I fully understand. I know we use sensitive for small probes to prevent any breakage, but what is the purpose of robust? Could having a higher or lower probe deflection value change any measurement results? Or perhaps the run speed?

The sphere, ball and plate have been cleaned and everything seems to be screwed on tightly. Plate and probe are Zeiss and Q-mark, but I've never seemed to have an issue with that in the past.

That was my first reaction when it failed during a re-qual as well. Unfortunately mine still fails with the full qualification too.

We experienced the same situation when calibrating as well. After the 3rd try, I decided to restart both the CMM and the computer as well. After that, the RC-CAA calibration process went through smoothly as normal.
I guess we should shut down or restart the CMM more often. Currently, it is shut down or restarted every 1 or 2 months.
