[Ri...]
(SOLVED! THANKYOU) I am trying to create a base alignment for a extremely simple round part, but for whatever reason I keep getting: "unable to create base alignment". I tried using the Outside Diameter measured as a cylinder for my Spatial Reference and X-Y origin Constructing a 2d line with the two holes highlighted here and using it as my Planar Rotation and finally taking a point or plane off the top of the part for my Z-origin. "unable to create base alignment". These three elements would be more than sufficient for any other CMM I've run, what does calypso want? ------- if I do create a 2d_line from two features is there a way to project it up to my top_plane? For example measuring a circle, the default scan speed is 100, yet the cookbook says 5 is the max for passive scanning.
[Cl...]
Use the top surface as a plane for spatial rotation an Z origin. The OD for XY zero, and the line for (X+) planar
[Ri...]
That works, thank you!
[Da...]
Richard, I think the reason it couldn't calculate was that the circle you tried to use for spatial alignment doesn't really work that way. you need a Cylinder or a plane to use spatial. ( a 3d line or cone also works ) A circle has only a center point, not an actual axis.
