[Ja...]
Hi, guys. What's the best way to evaluate profile to one datum in Calypso? Setting the one datum as your primary, secondary and tertiary in the profile characteristic window seems to work, but I'm not sure what Calypso is doing behind the scenes when I use this method. The senior programmer here says to create an alternate alignment that "levels" to that one datum then block rotation and originate using whatever B and C are on the drawing in question. However, using his method would constrain the tolerance zone to more than one datum, which undermines the intent of the print, right? Any help is appreciated. [Br...]
Yeah you can use the secondary alignment. Just constrain the appropriate degrees of freedom necessary for the one datum, then use up the rest of the DOF with the feature being referenced. So if your datum feature is a plane in the Z direction, use the datum as spacial rotation, and z origin. Then for all the rest of the fields, insert your feature being toleranced.
