Creating A Second Alignment

I have been programming CMMs since 1992 and started with Zeiss U-Soft, and for the past 20 years I have been using PC-DMIS. I have used several softwares, Calypso was not one of them. I just bought a Zeiss CMM at an auction that has Calypso software. I have figured out how to program a part and create the characteristics, but I need to have a second alignment for other characteristics. I cannot figure out to have 2 different alignments in the same program. I do a manual alignment on the part and then have the program measure all of my features. How do I create the second alignment without messing up the first manual alignment in the program?

Simply pull in any feature that you want to use for your alignment.
Then, under "Alignment" in the feature window, choose from the
drop down the alignment you just created. Also you can pull in the
alignment you created, inside the characteristic.

Our machine is running Calypso 4.0.14. I don't think it has the same options as the newer versions do. There is not an alignment option under characteristics. I'll figure it out someday.

[Resources] -> [Utilities] -> Alignment

What Clarke was referring to was how you want to view the part relative to the new alignment. E.g. if you are reporting Position, above the datum selection is a drop-down menu allowing you to report Position in your new alignment.

Also, if you double click on the feature itself, there is a drop-down at the upper right of the window allowing you to report the nominals/actuals in your new alignment.

Here for example is a t/p characteristic. From the drop down menu, choose
the secondary alignment (Alignment1) you created, or better yet, pull in each
datum feature separately just like the FCF on your print calls out.
