Slot Issues

Per the dwg, I am needing to profile out the Slot. Never had to measure a pro of a slot. I have cad but no curve etcc. with Calypso.

I've tried a few different ways but i'm coming up in left field. Again, I do not do many profiles. They are fairly new to me. Just the world I live in LOL

Any help in laymans terms... 🤣 🤣

Not an expert either, but you could extract the 2 cylinders at each side plus 2 planes (top and bottom) and report the profile for each of those.

What's the approx. thickness?

Assuming there's a CAD model, I would slice
through the slot with at least two nominal planes,
(depending how thick the material is?)

Then create a pair of 2d curves, and recall them into a FFS.

Do what Dane said above, two planes two cylinders, 4 separate profile charachtaristics with the same datum reference frame.

Create maximum result characteristic and use the four profile characteristics inside it to report max profile for entire slot.

If necessary mask the 4 independent profiles from your report to keep things neat.

I measure a lot of slots with tight profile tolerances. Curve makes it easy but try this:
1) Create a secondary alignment using -A-B-C-; have all Datum features set to Outer Tangential; constrain the features and you have created a true datum reference frame just as you would on the characteristic side.
2) Measure the slot using Space Points, using the constrained secondary alignment, and report Space point Distance with a +/-.0035. Go heavy with the points in the radial areas, I always find that to be a problem area. When the machine is interpolating those features there is usually a jump when the screws start to change direction to complete the arc.
