[Br...] Posted March 22, 2019 Share Posted March 22, 2019 That makes absolutely no sense. The position tolerance is applied to the same feature used as datum references. So there will never be any position error. Its perfect every time. This drawing looks to have a lot of issues. Does this reference ASME Y14.5? I think with ISO you would still get some error because it evaluates the derived median line instead of the axis. You would effectively be evaluating straightness if this drawing is per ISO if I'm not mistaken. [Me...] Posted March 22, 2019 Share Posted March 22, 2019 I would measure 2 cylinders, C & D, create a 3d line from them, and check the position of each back to that 3d line. It's basically checking coaxiality. Datum A is doing nothing.
