O-Inspect Glass Protection

We just recently bought an O-inspect 322 and we were looking into different products to help product the stage glass from getting scratches and nicks. We are looking at either a thin sheet of tempered glass or a glass protection film (similar to the film used to protect phone screens). I know the tempered glass will work but it is much thicker and more expensive. Has anybody tried the film? My main concern is it getting creases and bubbles when you slide parts and fixtures across the table.

But the frame is just another glass plate that can become scratched - and quite expensive too.
The frame would allow to exchange the glass rather quickly, but to do that you'd first need a replacement with the same dimensions. Not really a solution to the problem.

We use a frame like Laura described, but we additionally covered its glass plate with https://www.modulor.de/en/adhesion-film-transparent-colourless.html. We took the glass pane out of the frame and applied the film with water and a bit of dishwashing liquid. We use this setup since we have our O-Inspect and it works very well for us. A neat side-effect is that it prevents sliding of most parts, so we hardly ever need a fixture.

It will of course get scratches over time, but I'm amazed how many of those are ignored by the image processor as long as you don't focus exactly on the plate and use a high zoom factor if necessary.
