Service Pack 6.6.12 and O-Inspect

Has anyone already installed SP 6.6.12 on an O-Inspect?
This release comes with a completely new image processing and I have strange problems with a specific part.

The part is vaguely similar to a gear with 24 teeth. The program measures the OD with 1 point on every tooth in a rotational pattern. The points have an autofocus assigned, which is measured only once and used for all points (it's not part of the pattern).

My problem is that with Calypso 6.6.12 the CMM makes weird and seemingly random jumps in the Z direction while measuring these points. A typical run may look like this: During points 1 to 5 the CMM moves about 1 mm higher in Z at each point, getting completely out of focus. At point 6 it may suddenly drop back down, then up again at point 7. Then it may measure 5-6 points normally, then jump down or up again.

The problem is gone as soon as I take out the assigned autofocus and instead use a formula to get the Z height of the focus point.

While investigating the problem I noticed that a very mild form of it already occured in version 6.4.20, but the jumps were not nearly as big as in 6.6.12 and not so random.

The program has no spatial alignment, so I think I can rule out a tilted base alignment.

Make sure you are also on the latest patch. I've had some weird issues myself that the patch cleared a lot of.

Also a nice reboot of the PC, and controller helps clear up a lot of things as well.

No luck, unfortunately 🙁
I was at 6.6.1202 and am now at 6.6.1209, but the problem persists.

The weird thing is, the program has 2 diameters that are programmed the same way, but it happens only with one.

You have probably done this, but I'd double check that all the
settings for the one that works are the same for the one that
doesn't. It's probably something simple like that.

Have you ever tried rebuilding the element?
Maybe something has changed in the "infinite depths of the parameters"!

Had a similar problem with our O-Inspect, I just re-created the element and the problem disappeared!

That's what I'll do when everything else fails. But only then.
I'd prefer to understand the problem before I change anything, so as to avoid it in the future.
