Importing PMI into calypso

In trying to get Catia models to load into Calypso, with the PMI information intact so it can be used to populate the characteristics I have found that Catia does not actually export to the .sat (ACIS) file format. Any attempt to export to a .stp will cause the PMI to be left out of the file.

This leads me to believe Zeiss must be using a translator to import catpart files which leaves the PMI intact for use within Calypso. Can anyone confirm this or tell me what I am missing so I can put a plan in place to make this work?

Mike,

You will need to import this using the CATIA translator. If you don`t see it in your CAD load drop down, you will need to contact Zeiss or your distributor directly to add this option for you.

Does someone made experience with Calypso 2018 and Creo 4.0 CAD model?
We try to read the PMI Information from Creo 4.0 model but it doesn't work. Are there any other CAD Systems that can import PMI to Calypso 2018?

Siemens NX, Solidworks and Catia

The up-to-date-list can be found in the release notes in chapter 6.
The release notes also state that Creo PMI data can only be imported from parts, not from assemblies.
Furthermore it says Creo PMI is only imported from the active view (whatever that means).

That’s right, Siemes NX, Solidworks, Catia and Creo can be read according release notes Calypso 2018.

But the intention is to create automated measurement programs from that Creo 4.0 PMI CAD model. Has anyone done it successfully with one of these other CAD systems?

We can read the Creo PMI model, but the information which Calypso import is useless! For example the GD&T information or tolerances are not transferred. Finally we only have a CAD model without Information.
Yes, it's considered only a part and one view.

I always wanted to test the PMI functions with our NX models, but unfortunately PMI is not being used by our designers. I suspect many of them don't even know what that is 🤣

On my side is the opposite situation, design and metrology have an interesting project but Calypso 2018 cannot Support.
Even when the Zeiss home page contains different Information.
