[Lo...]
Can anyone explain why Freeform would take points in the opposite vector direction than the normal surface? Please see photos. When I look at the measured points, I have 6 points in the opposite direction which is causing the evaluation on screen to display a bogus number. It doesn't appear to be used for the surface profile call out. Can you filter a freeform surface? If so how or where is the setting. I'm not seeing anything in the evaluation tab except point elimination with transition to another surface. [profile2.jpg
[To...]
This happened to me once before. I think I went into CAD - CAD Modifications. I selected the questionable surface and chose to Invert Normal, or something like that. I'm not in front of Calypso.
[Aa...]
What format is the model file you imported, and where did it come from? The .stp file format is supposed to contain information about the material side of faces. But it's not always done correctly by all exporters. [Lo...]
The file imported was a step file. My nominal points are OK. Its when the part is measured, I get points with reverse vectors and it don't make since. I didn't know if it was a XXT passive thing or if there was truly a way to filter a FF surface. Simulation is ok. I beginning to think its the shape of the part. We went to a small stylus and the points are worse. Since the head is in (0,0) and scanning up onto the hump, there may be some pressure being applied to the stylus that the CMM is seeing as reverse. its kind of hard to explain.
