[Ke...]
So I am a user of another software just learning Calypso. After the part takes a hit it moves away from the surface. What is it called and where do I make it smaller. I am trying to measure the walls of a slot and it will just barely bump the wall after taking the hit causing a collision. It doesn't do it on every slot but every once in awhile. It was call retract distance in other software. I thought it was the same in Calypso but not making sense to me when I look at it. No I have not taken the class yet come on March 4th lol
[Mi...]
Open the feature, go to strategy top right then double click Clearance data and from there you change the retract distance. Making the number smaller. Mess around with it and you will get the hang of it
[Ro...]
There's another distance called "Clearance Distance", i always default this to zero. Its just a wonky move point before and after each feature that never seems to be in the correct vector direction. In my early days of programming it caused me to break several 1mm probes. Welcome to Claypso, you'll find it is 100% different than PCD. Take it from another bilingual programmer, nothing you know will carry over. [Ke...]
Oh trust me I am figuring that out PCD is different and I am doing ok. I am sure I will have alot more question even after I take the class

[se...]
As some mentioned above, getting the hang of (prehit)/retract and clearance was killing me... I was expecting a pc-demon wrench to act like a Calypso chain-fall. 😱 Now, I've got it under control but one thing am still flummoxed about...... in Strategy/Clearance Data, have tried to change the 'defaults' for clearance and retract distances by changing them in Extras/Settings/Measurement.... but I just cant seem to keep any modifications I enter 'stick'. Am I up the wrong tree? Any assistance much appreciated! (apologies if this considered a hijack)
[To...]
Typically, you set your defaults under Extras > Setting > Measurement. Then, when you need to modify them for a specific program, you do this in the Features Settings Editor, or as some know, "Tom's Favorite Button". Inside the Features Settings Editor, under Travel, you'll find Clearance Distance and Retract Distance. If you want to set global defaults for this specific program, choose Accept for: Measurement Plan and set the value in the Set to: field. If you want to change only certain features, choose Accept for: Selected Features, highlight all of the features you want to change and set the value in the Set to: field. [Ri...]
I throughly enjoy being able to make mass changes through FSE. I recently found that through CSE I could set the alignment for a Profile characteristic. It helped speed up changing 100+ Profile characteristics. [se...]
Thanks for refreshing me within your favorite button Tom! Everything was set perfectly, but my melon forgot to set the measurement plan to ** = default 🫣
