[Je...]
Anyone know how the casing for the TL3 sensor comes apart? Our machine suffered a drastic crash and has a piece of the internal structure rattling around. We replaced the head and I am attempting to keep this one as a last resort spare if something happens in the future (new sensor took 2 weeks to receive). It still functions at factory spec accuracy but the aluminum piece has wedged itself into the floating sensor a few times during rotation and caused the sensor to alarm out. I believe it is salvageable but need to get the outer housing off. Is the outer 2 piece housing glued? Threaded? Pressed? Swaged? Thanks for any help. [Ri...]
I believe it is glued together. What you are hearing rattling is likely one of the plastic tabs that holds the insides of the sensor in. You should have been able to trade it in for a credit towards the new one.
[Je...]
Please sign in to view this quote. It is not the plastic tabs. The pieces rattling around are aluminum or zinc. I can see them and almost get them out the bottom passed the plate but they are slightly too large. The sensor is actually working fine and measuring fine aside from the pieces occasionally getting lodged between moving parts. It is a mystery to me how internals were broken and the sensor still functions (and no significant external physical damage) after the head reportedly collided with a fixture. We have already purchased a new unit but I would prefer to disassemble this to repair it as a backup rather than get the $500 core return.
