[Da...]
Is there a way to get Calypso to output an estimated measurement uncertainty? I am trying to measure some reasonably tight tolerance parts, and I am trying to get a handle on the measurement uncertainties involved in some of the measurements. I can make some simple worst case assumptions and do the hand calculations, but I was hoping Calypso could give a better estimate.
[No...]
AFAIK Calypso has only rudimentary functions related to measurement uncertainty. If you have defined all the characteristics derived from a certain feature, you can open the feature's strategy. In the upper part of the window are three buttons. The middle one lets you chose whether your measurements are meant for length, position or form. When you've made your choice and clicked OK, Calypso adjusts scanning speed, step width and number of points accordingly. With the Navigator option, Calypso can make these adjustments automatically based on your Navigator settings. I don't have that option, so I can't say anything about it. The big solution from Zeiss would be the "Virtual CMM" option. It takes an existing measurement plan, analyzes all the measurements and outputs the estimated uncertainty for each characteristic. The calculations are based on your real CMM, meaning the real deviations of your CMM, temperature influence etc. must first be determined (a payed service by Zeiss) and fed to the option. [Aa...]
I don't believe VCMM is available to U.S. customers. Our sales rep. once attempted to get information from Zeiss on it, and came up empty.
