CAA with RDS and TP20

Just started a new job a few weeks ago. Up till now I have only used a Contura G2 with an XXT head. This place has a Spectrum machine with an RDS/TP20 set up. Is it possible to use CAA with this machine ?

Yes, you will still be able to use the functionality of CAA.

Nathan, I don't know that this is true, unless their is more information about the TP20 that I am unaware of. We have a Eclipse with the RDS TP20 and we don't have the option for CAA when we set up a probe. The TP20 is not used to scan so i don't think this is an option with the TP20.

Look under the RDS. If it doesn't say RDS-CAA in big red letters, I don't think it can do it. Though I don't know what it looks like on a Spectrum

So Tom, When you say look under the RDS I'm assuming that you re talking about under the Extras/CMM/Settings/Probe menu ?

I think he means the large red decals that are physically on the underside of the RDS, on the CMM.

That was simple. One machine has the sticker on it with the -CAA the other one has no sticker at all. Thanks for the info casey

The newer RDS (Rotating Digital Sensor) Probe Heads are almost always shipped with the capability of the RC-CAA qualification. There are probably a few systems with what I would call, 1st or 2nd Generation RDS Probe Heads. ZEISS has typically put decals on the end of the sensor in red letters to signify that it is an RDS-CAA equipped sensor.

If it's not obvious, decals wear off, then try creating a new stylus system. When the window opens to name it, there will be a small check box that allows the user to activate RDS-CAA.
