palletizing in YZ

What's the best way to handle a multi-part fixture that's set up in the YZ plane for access to both sides of the parts? Autorun appears to be limited to XY plane.

I never tried it, but what would happen if you define your pallet or/and base alignment in XY, but on the CMM you probe it so that it's tilted relative to the machine axes? That means your base X would point in the machine Y and your base Y in machine Z (example). In principle Calypso is capable of handling tilted alignments without fundamental program changes. However the styli used must correspond with the "real" axis directions and all the features must still be reachable.
Calypso can do it, but I don't know if Autorun can. Maybe it's worth a try?

Eileen, you can use Autorun and Pallet with the YZ working Plane but it takes a bit of work. When you create the Pallet, remove the checkmark from Regular so that the LOS Position button comes up. In Calypso proper, you will need to create a Base Alignment file for each position on the pallet. That's where the bit of work comes in. It's not so bad once you get start and get a routine established. Once you have all the individual Base Alignment files created in the Base Systems folder, open LOS Position and select them for each station on your Pallet.

I did this a long time ago but I don't remember the exact details. I believe I created the base alignment by rotating the BA around X so that the Z axis was in the -Y direction. So, from the front of the machine, I was looking at the front of the part as though it was on the X/Y plane.

FYI, I only did the rotation once, just so I could get the XY and Z orientation set. Then, I created a new BA with the part in its' final orientation with the Z axis parallel to the machine's Y axis.
