I'm new to curve--maybe I'm missing something basic, but here it is:
I'm probing a 2D curve of 100 points. The first and last few points in the segment consistently show .006" or so off nominal. The center 90% of the points are within tenths as I would expect on this part. I've adjusted the segment evaluation parameter from points 10 to point 90, 20 to 80, etc. but consistently get the first and last few points of the actually evaluated segment points far out of tolerance. The green bars on the screen and the space point distance in the Curve feature dialog box both show the deviation as though it's real.
But I don't think it is real.
At first I thought probe bouncing, but I've evaluated different sections of the segment (stated above) and I've adjusted point masking in settings (both time masking and first/last points to mask) with no change. I've also tried speeding up and slowing down scanning speed with no change. Any ideas?
The machine is a Prismo with XR probing and rotary table (table not being used dutring above curve). 2017 Calypso.
Thank you.

Hi Paul, I'm Mark Ensley from Zeiss Application Support. Are your measured points 3 times the amount of your nominal points? 100 nominals should have generally speaking 300 measured points set up in your strategy. Also, have you tried the Pre/Post travel in the strategy window of you curve ? This could allow the probe to stabilize before collecting and measurement data.

Mark,
I now have three times as many measured as nominal points and I've added pre/post travel, both which have helped, but I still sometimes get the effect as shown in the screenshot--the start & end of my evaluated points shows a deviation that is not real. I'm pretty sure not real as changing the segment start/end evaluated points does not knockout out the "bad" points. Instead, the bad points then fall at the beginning and end of the just shortened segment.

PS-Probe speed variation does not help.

Paul

Trying going to Measurement Plane Editor Features/ Manual Point Masking/ Activate point masking after time interval and set to OFF for this feature.

You will probably have to pay to go to training. People will help guide you on here but you really need to be trained to have the basic understanding of curve.
