Hi,

I have a plastic part which comes bended out of molding tool.
How to approach this?
I have curve, I haven't tried to measure yet, but I expect problem.
If I do section, the nominal points for the curve would be on the same height, which isn't the case on the part.
Attachments (units are in mm):
drawing,
CAD model,
another CAD, which represents the real world situation

A 3D view of the part would be helpful. Can't download your files due to security issues.

Can you section, create the curve, and then transform it to the location you want? Just grabbing at straws here since what you're trying to do is unclear to me.

If your part is warped after molding then you either need to restrain it, if allowed per the customer/print, and check it per the print, or if not acceptable to restrain the part, check it as it is. The nominals are what they are. The section shown is a perpendicular cut across the slot. It is what it is.

You could scan it as an unknown contour and best fit it to the model, but again, it is what it is, and the nominal are what they are.It really comes down to what I acceptable to the customer.

  • 1 month later...
I just picked space points on a bent surface on one of my models and
recalled them into a 2d curve, Then turned on digitizing under Nominal
Data, and it scanned. I don't know how it will work for you, or what kind
of result you'll get? Might be worth a try?
