[Ja...]
We have an offline seat for Calypso that requires a dongle. I pulled it off the motherboard of the computer that it is working on and brought it to my desk PC. I installed Calypso and now when I try to boot it up I receive "No valid basic license found or dongle not recognized." In the License Activation Utility, when I go to the Activate section and open the drop down menu below "Dongle", it says "Not Detected". Is it possible that the dongle is somehow locked to the PC? I thought they could be swapped freely. Maybe I am doing something wrong?
[Da...]
Jacob, try to search for a .lic file in C:\ProgramData\Zeiss\License on the working computer and transfer it to the same location on other.
[Ja...]
Dane, I have transferred over all of the licenses from the offline machine and still am having no success.
[Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I think that you have to import that license file through the ZLAU. I don't think you can just save it yourself there. Open up ZLAU - Import License File - Select the .lic file from the PC you pulled it off of. [Ja...]
Richard, I have tried importing the license through ZLAU with no luck. Is it possible that I should uninstall and reinstall making sure that I first import the license? I don't understand what else I could've missed. [Te...]
You need to get the License File and use the Zeiss Activation tool and Manage License and select import a License or response and select the license file you copied from the other PC
[Ja...]
Ted, I have done this and it did not solve the issue. The SMA is no longer active but I assume that wouldn't matter as I am trying to install a version that it supported. Is this correct?
[Wo...]
Is the Dongle working on the old PC? Also, is the dongle recognized in the Device Manager?
[Er...]
I had this happen once and it happen to be that the dongle was worn out and the pc would no longer recognize it. We still had our SMA so we had to send it in and have it replaced. Also, if i am not mistaken, you can't just switch it from PC to PC. I remember we got new PC's and we had to send in our PC information so the could give us a licenses for those PC's. You may need Zeiss support for this one. [Ja...]
Wojciech, The dongle works fine on the old PC so I don't think it is worn out. I have yet to check Device Manager. Eric, I think that you may be correct in that I need to reach out to Zeiss. I will submit a ticket on Monday and see if it is locked to the PC. I have heard that it is I just didn't see that as reasonable for an offline system. Wishful thinking, I guess. Thank you
[Ja...]
Wojciech, You led me to the solution. I checked device manager and the dongle driver hadn't been installed properly. Turns out I disable the "TrustedInstaller" service on my PC and it wasn't allowing any driver updates to occur. I enabled the service and updated the driver. I am now up and running. Thank you to everybody that pitched in.
