[Da...]
I mentioned that the newest version of calypso only runs on windows 10, and our computer nerd says,"Let's get newer bigger computers for those two machines!!!" Who am I to argue ! Unfortunately, I don't know enough to choose a new system. So he sent me this link to what he was thinking might be a good fit ! What do you guys think? Secondly can we install calypso on the new computers before switching them out? We run pretty heavy and really don't want any delays changing over... https://tinyurl.com/yaatouz2

[Da...]
I'm not telling ! but seriously , will this computer do the job?
[Er...]
Don't go for a i7, or any other core family processor for that matter... If this is a work station and not used for games or youtuber movie making/streaing or what ever the kids are up for to day, you always go for a xeon cpu. Or two, and ECC-memory. I complaind so much at my old i7 laptop that my boss threw in the towel and desided I'll get what ever I liked. "Will you shut up if you can build it your self?" 😎 So I got: 2 xenon cpu's at 3.4ghz (or was it 3.2? However, go for the highest clock speed available. More threads won't do you any good in calypso.) 68 Gb ECC memory NVIDIA Quadro P5000 (Maybe P4000, can't remember.) 500 Gb ssd (as work space, rest is stored on the network) I also said I'm bind so I need a bigger screen. So I got a 40" cruved one 😃 That runs great, But lately Iv'e worked with huge cad-models. (Parts with a diameter of 2,3 meters and over 10 000 features to check.) I also handle point clouds and voxel data while doing 10 other things simultaniously. How ever, I recommend those parts. If you pay big money for cmm's or 3d-/CT-scanners to get accuracy, why risk any calculations preformed in RAM by not using ECC?
[Wo...]
One thing not to get is a 4k monitor. I've got two (not my idea) and the problems with scaling are incredibly annoying. Definitely get a Xeon and ECC ram And highest processor clock possible. Calypso is mostly single core from what I've noticed.
