Unhandled Exception System Error

This has happened to me quite a few times now and it's getting irritating. Can anyone tell me what's going on here? If I try to edit a feature, I will occasionally get an error message that says "Unhandled Exception: message not understood".
I've attached the message.
Once it comes up, I can't get rid of it. I have to shut down Calypso and restart.

Thanks in advance.

This message usually means either Calypso or the Controller can't make sense of what's going on. Next time this comes up, make note of what was going on prior to the message, and if you were editing, what exactly did you try and change, and how did you try and change it. Sometimes, when these kinds of messages come up, you can hit Ctrl Y, and that will interrupt the function that running and you can keep working without restarting.

It's 2018. Not sure what service pack. Can't find that anywhere. I did try CTRL Y. And it just created more error messages.

This has happened more than once. This morning I tried to edit a clearance plane and it brought up the message but this time it says "Unhandled exception: Subscript out of bounds: 2".. All I can do to get it to go away is to close Calypso out using Task Manager. But then when i bring it back up I still can't edit the clearance plane. Same thing.

It seems I'm not allowed to change anything once I've written the program.

Matt, the thing that stands out for me here is, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. What version Calypso? What kind of machine? What sensor? Are the parts being measured too big for the machine? In other words, what's going on when it works and what's going on when it doesn't?

I wish I could pinpoint it. I wonder if Tom has a point. Maybe it's the version of 2018. I'm running the Contura but it happens in the planner as well (same version). The parts I'm measuring are small, well within the area of the fixture plate. Around 10 inches long. So it couldn't be that. I'll keep paying attention to it and try to figure out what I'm doing that could be causing it.

That's telling. Do you know if anyone made a backup copy of the programs before moving to 2018? If so, you can easily uninstall 2018 and install 2017, then load the backup programs, run and evaluate. You might want to call APS and get confirmation that this plan won't screw you up.

Matt, I have seen error messages from just clicking on Characteristics that don't use the CAD Presentation feature (ie Perpendiculartity, Runout, Distance etc) . Try turning off the display box (uncheck) in CAD Presentation and see if that helps.

Richard, I don't think there are backup copies. I'd have to ask our QE. He was running the CMM before I came in. Unlikely.

Mark, I'll try that next time this happens. Good to know. Thanks.

I found a way to get around it this time, fortunately.

Thanks guys.
