[Wo...]
I have reinstalled everything from scratch because the Service Packs are different. If you try to install the patch on top of the "old" service pack it will fail, throwing error about version incompatibility.
[Ke...]
I have installed full version 6.6 then installed patch 6.6.1203. Now I notice there is a Service Pack 6.6.12. Should this also be installed? Should the Service Pack be installed before or after the patch?
[Th...]
If you were able to install patch 1203, then you already had the service pack installed. Patches have to be applied on top of the SP they're written for, e.g. patch 6.6.1203 is a patch for service pack 6.6.12, so the service pack needs to be installed before the patch. I don't think the patch installer will let you apply it otherwise.
[Ke...]
Thanks Thomas. This clarifies the relationship of Service Packs vs. patches. This makes me suspect we were possibly not successful installing the patch since I'm pretty sure we did not have the Service Pack downloaded and available for installation at the time. Is there a definitive way to determine which service packs and/or patches have been successfully installed? If I click "?" then "About" it displays: Version 6.6(05.06.2018). The information window for Service Packs is blank.
[Th...]
I think the service pack listing in the About window is always blank, I can't recall ever having seen anything there. The version number shown on the lower bar of the starting screen, and in the About window, follows the same versioning scheme for every full release, SP, and patch, so it's the best way to determine what you're running. The first 2 numbers are the major version (e.g. 6.6, 6.2, etc, with 6.6 being commonly called Calypso 2018). The third number indicates what service pack you're running (e.g. 6.6.12, which would be Calypso 2018, service pack #2). Patches, as additions to a specific service pack, are appended to the version number as so: 6.6.12 becomes 6.6.1203. The last 4 digits, 1203, indicate that this is a patch for service pack 6.6.12. This is also how you can determine if a patch you want to install has the requisite SP installed. If, as you have said, you only have the initial release of Calypso 2018 installed (6.6, with no extra numbers) then the available patch will fail to install.
