[Da...]
As some of you already noticed, when choosing a software group on https://sdp.metrology.zeiss.com, there's also an option CMM-OS. Can someone explain how is this different from Calypso?
[Ja...]
Dane, The extent of my knowledge tells me that CMM-OS is a server that allows for communication between Zeiss CMM and non-Zeiss metrology software. For example, we run Calypso and PC-DMIS on our Zeiss Contura. Calypso runs naturally, but when running PC-DMIS we must first open the CMM-OS software. Once we run PC-DMIS (as a client) it connects to CMM-OS. CMM commands in PC-DMIS are "converted" by the I++ DME standards into a general language that can be understood by CMM-OS. Then CMM-OS "converts" the language back into something that the Zeiss machine can understand. Hope this helps.
