Mini Plans?

Below is a link to a video on this, skip to the 2.4 minute mark where discussing mini-plans is in detail.

Once created, mini-plans are selected on the start menu screen, in the drop-down menu located directly under the current selection box. Why they have never put a name on the selection field, I have no idea.

I use it a lot for parts that get CMM inspected at multiple operations.
I'll right the complete First Article program, then break it up into
mini-plans for each op.

And what if the first operations have stock-on dimensions, could Mini Plans still work, or do I have to continue to use make new programs with new cads of those operations?

I normally create a complete inspection program for the PPAP. They can take a long time to run. If the program is long and we have proven capability on certain measurements, confident certain measurements will not be an issue, or only want to measure critical characteristics etc. We may create a mini plan to measure only what needs to be measured during production runs to save time. We have also ran the full program at the beginning of the run and the mini plan at certain intervals during the run.

Mini plans could still work, you'd just need extra features and characteristics. You do risk crashing if you run the wrong mini plan.

Sounds good. But because of a number of CNC operators on night shift that operate our CMM at our company, the risk of crashing would be high. So I don't think I'll use a mini plan but its good to know I have this option. Thank you

Another option would be if you have PCM, you could set up a parametic program that ask the operator to input the size of each feature, that changes between different stages, before the program starts.
Still a liability to the operator putting in the correct size but, it can save you from making several programs.
