Surface Profile on a Spherical Surface

I have a part that has Profile to Datum A. The surface is spherical, basically the form of a cone with a .627" radius on the sides. Datum A is an outside diameter measured as a cylinder. I have tried measuring the spherical surface a couple of different ways, as a plane and then as a cone. When I do the profile characteristic, profile to datum A, it wants more datums in order to get a result.

Question 1: What is the best way to get the profile of a spherical surface to the Datum listed?
Question 2: Is that even the correct call out for that? I'm thinking not.

when using a standard geometric feature in a profile characteristic the DRF must be fully filled out. Just set Datum A for all 3 Datums

I just want to be sure, is this always the case?
Look at the pictures, I have true position with only datum A.
Which one is correct?
