[Jo...]
Hello All, I am puzzled by "Text element" problem. Sometimes I add <Text element> with related information in Characteristic list, it can be shown in outputs to increase readability. I think most of programmers do it like that. Now,my problem is that I want to get the contents fo <Text element> thru PCM. I've tried so many methods, but I am not able to make it. I tried transferring "inspect" file to ".txt" as extention, then read it as strings to get contents of Text element. But it is inconvenient!!! I believe there must be a better may to make it. Thanks a million
[Er...]
Why try many methods instead of just the right one? 🤣 getNominal("nameOfTxtElement").protocolText Have a nice day.

[Br...]
Eric, Can that PCM code be used within a Piweb reporting template to display the text?
[Er...]
I don't think PiWeb has any connection at all to the objects in Calypso. It's a "one way connection". So no. But, I will make a work around for this when ever the time comes. Since I need stuff stored in text elements on my reports even in the future. Maybe I will transfer data via groups or... I don't know what I will do. But I need an effortless, automated solution for this my self.
[Br...]
Yep same here. It would be annoying to have to make a measurement plan specific template for every single measurement plan just to put text into it. I was hoping you figured it out. [Te...]
Zeiss suggests using a group for this type of information. You can form a group and then pull stuff out of the group and the group stays. You can use formula in the comment section of the group name. This is the path forward I think with PiWeb. It is the same formula screen that is in the text element and a result input in a results element. If result elements goes to PiWeb, may be able to use that instead of group will have to play with that.
[Br...]
Please sign in to view this quote. The only problem with that is if you have more than one line of text, it gets cut off on the report. Maybe I'm missing something but I cant find a way to get it to auto size the group comment text box on the report.
[No...]
It won't, because text boxes don't auto-resize in PiWeb. If I remember correctly you can make it adapt the text font size so it fits the current box size (meaning it fits the text once and then stays like that), but in the end that's pretty useless. Apart from that the only option is to make the box big enough for every comment you may ever come across....
[Br...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I've done some that are measurement plan specific pi web templates where I put the text in the designer mode. But what i really want is a generic template that can accept variable text data and format accordingly. There's gotta be a way.
