"Enter Serial Number" dialog box not appearing

it does it in old programs, but not new measurement plans

done the usual:
resources/results to file/check "select at cnc start"
measurement tab/multiple printout/uncheck "multiple printouts active

any ideas?

What happens when you UNCHECK the multiple PO box. Sounds like you have not set up the header variables in the PiWeb. The old report headers are still there. They will go away all together in the future but as of now you can still see them.

You will need to set up Pi Web with the header variables in order to use the new stuff. Video will help some..

we've never used piweb here. I inherited the old system of custom reports that no longer seem to be working since the old guy left

I plan to make the change to piweb asap

I use "incremental part number" but there is "workpiece Ser. No." that you could use. If you want it to be on the custom report header, you will have to edit the header. I haven't modified mine in a long time but go to resources, design custom printout, printout head, file , open, vphead, click on what you want to add to the header from the left column and click in the header where you want it. If it was there before / in other programs, then in the "definition of multiple printout" maybe you have the wrong "output format" selected. I would compare it to the program that works right.

You probably need to check your userfield.ini file to make sure it is in there. If you get training it is not part of the regular training so make sure you ask about it.

I believe that you still have to select the Custom Printout that has the printout header information to get everything to work correctly.

Have a look at this it should help. Wrote this for customers because it is not covered in a training class very often. It is dated and soon to become mostly obsolete with custom printout leaving but should get you enough info to get your serial number or anything else back in the custom printout header.
