[Ri...] Posted October 25, 2018 Share Posted October 25, 2018 Calypso v6.2.x Vast XT Gold I seem to have ran into an issue where I have a plane in the XZ, XY axii. Using a stylus in the Z- position I probe around the plane 180 degrees. In order to avoid colliding with the part I need an arc motion to move around the Ø4.025 "Circle Path" for the plane. I used the "Fixed Path" which provides for arc motion. Now, all my planes are in touch trigger mode whether I select points or scanning. Attached is a sample program, I have removed the model but left an image "model.jpg" for viewing. Plane1, Circle1 and Circle2 use a Ø3mm x 90mm stylus in the Z- axis Plane2 uses a Ø3mm x 90mm in Y+ and Y- axis. Any assistance would be appreciated. All my programs now move in trigger points regardless of settings. I do not recall who posted this PDF file, but I believe it was how to make a plane probe in arc motion. I had forgotten I had the file, today I was trying to make the plane move around a circumference and stumbled upon it. I changed my setting and it worked, then all planes started working only in trigger type mode while circles scanned as planned. [Ri...] Posted October 25, 2018 Share Posted October 25, 2018 Yes, the Fixed Path is ONLY for single points measurement. If you are scanning a circle path, it's already going to be on a "fixed path." Is it possible for you to just either add more to your retract distance to avoid the other point? I always tell people that I avoid having to put position points at all cost. I understand what "Fixed Path" is for, problem that arose is, after enabling it on a single Plane feature, all planes were now trigger type, they will not scan. Add to that, the form of the plane will be exaggerated greatly. In the CMM program provided, when I unchecked "Fixed Path" in Plane1, Plane2 had "Form" of .027". [Gr...] Posted October 30, 2018 Share Posted October 30, 2018 Here is my best explanation of fixed path. On occasion we have a plane with islands or protrusions on them. When measuring these planes we will sometimes use circle on a plane and because of material make up we will check single points and under Number of points call out 10. If the measurement is run at this point the CMM will make straight linear moves from point to point. If there is a island or protrusion or feature in those straight lines a collision can occur. To avoid this under Special Settings check fixed path. Now when measured, the stylus will follow the diameter you defined when setting up circle path. Hope this helps.
