[St...]
We have a GageMax with a VAST XT head, using probes with the ID chip in the adapter plates. 2 of these chip rings have loosened up to the point of falling out when turned upside down. This is an issue as we have to manually change probes due to limited space and a large part being checked. has anyone else had this happen to them? Also does anyone know what I can use to reaffix the chip ring to the plate without messing up the chips functionality? Open to any suggestions, Thanks in advance for any help.Zeiss Probe ID-Chip (2).jpg
[No...]
I never had that issue, but seeing the Zeiss logo on the plate put a smile on my face, because we buy all our plates from a third-party manufacturer, and some years ago a Zeiss tech tried to convince me that this could be the cause of the problems we had back then. Well, looks like Zeiss' own plates are no better 😉 Since there are no screws or anything, I guess these rings are just glued to the plate. Of course you have to insert the ring in the correct orientation. The way it's inserted on the photo is wrong, the chip must point to the inside (as you certainly know). Also the ring has an index hole and the plate has a small pin that goes in the hole (there's also a pocket for the chip in the plate). I would just put a few (5-6) small dots of superglue on the green area of the ring where it touches the plate. Make sure that the glue is non-conductive and keep it on the green area, this is the isolated part of the chip PCB. By the way, out of personal interest: Could you PM me what's printed on the small black ID chip? A close-up photo would do.
