2018 Install Problem

Hello everyone,

I am trying to install the 2018 version alongside 2016 (6.2.20. ) I am getting a License violation when I go to run 2018. I am getting a popup error that is saying "no basic license found or dongle not recognized." This is the first time I have had an issue upgrading to the current version of Calypso. I am not seeing version 6.6 in the Zeiss License Activation Utility (Client.) Does anyone know what I need to do to get 2018 version running?

Ist it a dongle or a software license?
Have you upgraded your licenses in the Zeiss portal?
Is your license contract still valid?

One thing we encountered after a fundamental system change (new OS, new computer, formatted hard drive) is that in addition to the licenses on the dongle Calypso also needs some license-related files stored somewhere in C:\ProgramData to be restored, otherwise it rejects the dongle.

It is a PC bonded license

I have not upgraded the licenses in the Zeiss portal. I have never had to do this in the past.

Our license contract is still valid. We should have a current software maintenance agreement. I'll ask the other inspector about this tomorrow.

If it's not showing 6.6 in the Zeiss License Activation Utility then you need to get the license. In the past, you could submit a request (email address eludes me at this time). Now, Zeiss is trying out a website that you can enter your serial number and if you have a valid SMA, you can download the license. As of month or two ago, it wasn't quite ready.

Thanks for the reply Tom. 6.6 isn't showing up in the Zeiss License Activation Utility. I'll try to put in a request tonight for a license for 6.6. I'll post up the email address when I find it.

I had similar issues licensing Calypso 2018. That new site Tom mentioned wasn't quite ready for U.S. customers.
Called the Zeiss number shown in the attached and they got me up and running in a jiffy.
(there's also an email address shown)

I have a request in for tech support and I am in the process of emailing back and forth. I will also try the steps that worked for you. When I did the activation request I got an error. "No Activation Ids in the request." It won't save the activation id request because of this error. Was 6.6 showing up in your "License Activation Utility" before or only after this?
