[da...]
When scanning on curves, on some I get the first and last points showing out and everything else looking good, used to get it when point masking was on . but that default is now off. but still seeing it usually in smaller curves. is there a setting that will help me get rid of that.?? thanks
[Ow...]
In the strategy, make sure you have a pre/post travel during scanning distance set. This allows the probe to travel a set distance before and after recording nominals so any noise or points not perpendicular to the surface of the ruby are removed. If that doesn't work, then Go to the feature and select the evaluation tab and select the Limit evaluation, click the Nominal Vector Direction and click on the Parameter tab to choose the points you want to no longer be included in the evaluation of the curve. [Cl...]
Owen, what would be a good value to start with for the pre/post travel?
[Ow...]
Pre and Post travel depends on how much room you have to exceed the needed scanned area, the size and strength of the stylus and the geometry the curve is made up with but, I'd say .02" [0.5mm] is what I use on average. A good practice when there isn't room to get the stylus started before nominal points are needed is to scan one way and then scan back the other way with two different segments. Most probe errors are created at the beginning of the a scan and by going back over the start from the opposite direction it helps the filters remove them.
